Abstract

A fungicidal coating composition comprises a blend of a hydrocarbon oil, e.g. white spirit, kerosine, aromatic kerosine extract or a fuel oil and a bituminous substance and/or microcrystalline wax, and less than 2.5 per cent by weight, based on the total composition of a fungicide, e.g. pentachlorophenol, naphthenic acid or a mixture of naphthenic acids or a heavy metal salt thereof, creosote, the composition having a consistency permitting application by brushing to form a flexible adherent coating. The bituminous substance may be an asphaltic bitumen, or a bitumen prepared from natural hydrocarbons or from derivatives of natural hydrocarbons by distillation, oxidation or cracking or a residue obtained in the distillation of animal and vegetable oils and fats preferably containing no free carbon.
