Abstract

759,733. Rotary sprayers. AEROSOL CORPORATION, T. R. Nov. 22, 1954 [Nov. 24, 1953], No. 33696/54. Class 69 (3). An atomizer casing with top and bottom openings 2 and 3 houses an electric motor 12 which drives a set of centrifugal discs 23 surrounded by a ring of atomizer blades 25, and a suction tube 31 extending into a liquid container 28 feeds liquid to the discs. The interior surface of the casing has a concave part a which continuously merges into a convex portion b extending to the opening 2, and the ratio between the largest diameter of the casing and the diameter of the opening 2 is approximately 1.85 and the diameter of the opening 3 is at least equal to the diameter of the discs 23. The casing is in two parts 1a, 1b and the lower part has supports 8 for a plate 11 which, with a cap 14, provides a housing for the motor. The blades 25, Fig. 2, are secured to annular segments 24 attached to the supports 8, and are inclined to the radial direction and overlap in that direction to prevent liquid passing directly between them and into the aerosol outlet channel 9. Radial ribs 27 on the bottom of the lowest disc produce an air flow which carries the atomized particles from the top opening. The electric supply to the motor is cut off by a switch 38 operated by a float 37 and a rod 36 when liquid in the container falls to a predetermined level. The rod 36 and a further rod 39 are of silver and constitute electrodes for ionizing the particles.
