Class 145 [Also in Group XXX] A feed bench for feeding logs to a saw, has an endless chain 1 and also pairs of bevel blocks 12 which can be moved towards each other so as to support a log above the chain and allow it to be rotationally adjusted on rollers 14 before the blocks are moved apart again to lower the log for feed to the saw. The blocks 12 may be adjusted by racks 15 engaged by gears 16 on a pair of coupled motor- or hand-driven shafts 17. Pushers 4 are pivoted on the chain 1 and are raised into position to engage a log by means of cam rails 5. The movement of the pushers is limited by stops that engage the link pin forward of the link pin on which they are pivoted and, on the lower return run, the pushers are maintained in retracted position by a rail 11. Guide rails 18 sup porting the log just above the chain on each side may comprise a pair of single rails movable laterally so that they always constitute continuations of the inner edges of laterally-adjustable tables carrying the two saw blades or may comprise two or more thin rails on each side, the ends of which rest against sloping surfaces on the saw tables so that the rail or rails that do not correspond to the inner edges of the saw tables are depressed on outward movement of the blocks.
