Abstract

<PICT:0757906/III/1> After liquid has been applied by the peripheral surface of a rotary roll to a workpiece in the form of a stripe having an unwanted longitudinal bead, and before such bead has dried, the liquid of the bead is spread over the stripe by the action thereon of a jet of gas. As shown in Fig. 1, apparatus for applying a marginal stripe of latex, as described in Specification 302,958, [Class 95] is modified by the inclusion of a nozle 64 to which compressed air is supplied and which directs the compressed air on to the bead of latex formed by the stripe-applying roll 38.
