Abstract

757,512. Fishing floats. NUNN, F. W. Dec. 7, 1954 [Sept. 8, 1953; Oct. 15, 1954], Nos. 24826/53 and 29742/54. Class 48. [Also in Group XXV] A clip for connection sideways on to an unbroken line comprises an elongated member 1 having a line gripping device at least at one end and extending through a tube 4, resilient means holding the line gripping device in closed position and means at the other end of the elongated member 1 to engage with the line. In the embodiment shown the tube 4 is pushed through a hole in a fisherman's float 5 and the clip serves to attach the float to the fishing line. The line is passed into L-shaped slots 3, 8 at the ends of the elongated member 1 and is clamped at the lower end between a head 2 on the elongated member and the end of the tube 4. At the upper end the line is clamped between a nut 11 screwed on to the elongated member and the end of a sleeve 9 slidable on the tube 4. A spring 12 urges the sleeve 9 outwardly relative to the tube 4. A sleeve 9 may be provided at each end of the tube 4. In a modification the elongated member 1 is in the form of a wire with hook shaped ends which engage in a slot and a hole in the ends of two telescopic sleeves through which the wire passes and which are urged apart by a spring. In a further modification, Fig. 3, a wire 28 with hooked ends 27 has cranked portions 29 bearing against washers 30 which are movable inwardly of a tube against the action of a spring 31. Sleeves 30<SP>1</SP> prevent outward movement of the washers. The line is gripped between the hooks and the ends of the tube. The second Provisional Specification describes a clip comprising spring-urged plungers slidably accommodated in the open ends of a sleeve, the plungers having hook-like slots for engaging loops on the ends of a cord. It also describes a clip comprising a length of spring wire with hooked ends housed in a tube, one of the hooked ends having a lateral projection for engaging in a hole in the tube.
