The method of the main invention in which an image is produced non-photographically on the face of the tissue of a sheet of duplex paper having such tissue removably secured to a heavier backing sheet, the tissue is fixed to the face of a carrier sheet, the backing sheet is removed, the tissue is placed in contact with a light-sensitized plate, exposure is effected through the carrier and the tissue and after removal thereof the plate is processed to form a printing plate; thus avoiding the need for producing a laterally reversed image in the first instance and avoiding the need for a camera and dark room, is modified by the features of (1) producing the initial image on the tissue in two successive operations, (2) producing the initial image in the form of a composite on two separate tissues, fixing one of them to the carrier sheet and removing the backing sheet, fixing the other tissue to the tissue already on the carrier sheet and applying the two tissues to the sensitized plate and proceeding as above; in this case the image on one of the tissues may be in the form of reference lines and that on the other tissue may be words or symbols, and pieces embodying such may be cut up and fixed in required positions in relation to the reference lines, and (3) applying a positive laterally reversed image as of reference lines to the carrier sheet and then fixing pieces of duplex paper bearing non-laterally reversed images as of words or symbols in required positions in relation to the reference lines, applying the tissue assembly to the sensitized plate and, again, proceeding as above.
