Abstract
756,827. Photo-electric pin-hole detector. LINDERMAN ENGINEERING CO., Inc. Nov. 12, 1954, No. 32824/54. Class 40 (3). In a photo-electric pin-hole detector for strips 26 fed by a roll 28, a mercury lamp 22 serving as source of ultra violet is supplied with alternating current at mains frequency modulated also at between 400 and 3000 cycles per second. An ultra-violet filter 40 situated below the strips prevents visible light reaching a bank 42 of parallel-connected photo-cells. The output of the cells is fed to amplifier 50 sharply tuned to the modulation frequency and used to control a thyratron 56 operating a relay 68 to mark or separate defective material.
