Abstract

756,822. Brassiere support. TAREAU, G. H., and WILHELM, L. C. Oct. 22, 1954, No. 30555/54. Class 141. A support for brassieres consists of a flat metal strip which is bent and contoured so that it can be fitted to the edges of the brassiere cups with one of its broad sides pressing against the wearer's chest. The flat metal strip 1 is bent as shown in Fig. 1 into two curved parts 3, 4 and a rectilinear middle portion 2, the ends being connected to ferrules 5, 6 with eyelets 7, 8. When applied to a brassiere comprising shoulder straps, the support preferably extends along the lateral and lower edges of the cup sections, but when used in a strapless brassiere the support extends along the lateral and upper edges of the cups. A modification of the support is in the form of a " separator," Fig. 4, shaped to be placed between the wearer's breasts. The metal support may be covered with a sheath of plastic material or may be inserted in a sheath of fabric, e.g. braid.
