Abstract

756,753. Electric furnace. GOEBEL, F., STOCKE, E. and STOCKE, R., [trading as GOEBEL PORZELLANFABRIK OESLAU UND WILHELMSFELD, W.]. Nov. 23, 1954 [Nov. 24, 1953], No. 32647/53. Class 39(3). A furnace for fusing colours or enamels on ceramics or glass comprises a tunnel structure with two separate parallel channels extending side by side therethrough and heatinsulated from one another, the central portion at least of each channel being electrically heated, and separate conveyer belts 7 passing one through each channel 5 have entry and exit parts extending beyond the end of the channels. Horizontal loading and unloading tables 13 are arranged adjacent the extending ends of the conveyers with their surfaces flush with the upper surfaces of the stainless steel conveyers. The electric resistance heating elements extend over the middle third of the lengths of the channels, the upper elements 10 being placed in a recess in the roof, and the lower elements 9 being placed below the upper runs of the conveyers 7. Wooden end rollers 8 support conveyers 7 which are driven slowly through a smooth continuously variable gear through one roller 8 or through small ceramic rollers spaced every few inches along the conveyer. A fan is placed near the end of each conveyer for aeration or de-aeration through the roof and means for temperature equalisation or for automatic temperature control may be placed in the channels, which may be of uneven size.
