Abstract
756,646. Dispensing measured quantities of liquids. FRANTSEVITCH. V. Sept. 7, 1954 [Sept. 7, 1953; Oct. 31, 1953; Oct. 31, 1953], No. 25957/54. Class 106(5) A liquid dose dispensing apparatus comprises a storage reservoir 1, means for displacing liquid from the reservoir, and means for dispensing the liquid so displaced in predetermined measured quantities, the means for dispensing the liquid being constituted by a dosing chamber 2 communicating with the interior of the reservoir through a duct 3 having one end disposed at a predetermined height above the bottom of the chamber 2. The walls of the reservoir 1 are deformed by the fingers of the user's hand to displace liquid through the duct 3 into the chamber 2. As soon as the pressure of the fingers is released the liquid in the chamber 2 falls to the level of the top of the duct 3 and the measured quantity thus obtained may be poured out by tilting the apparatus. The chamber 2 may have a screwed connection with the reservoir 1 or it may be formed integrally therewith. In a second embodiment, the apparatus is turned from the position shown in Fig. 3 until it rests on the wall 11' and a measured quantity introduced into the chamber 13 as before. The apparatus is then restored to the position shown and the walls of the reservoir again deformed to produce an increased internal pressure which 'is communicated through the tube 14 to the chamber 13 so that the measured quantity of liquid is ejected through a tube 15. The upper end of the tube 14 may be curved back on itself to prevent an appreciable quantity of liquid from being transferred from the tube to the chamber when the apparatus is returned to dispensing position. A pump or a deformable bulb may be used to effect the displacement of the liauid into the dosing chamber which may be located inside the reservoir.
