755,233. Beet-topping machines. AKTIEBOLAGET ARVIKA-VERKEN. Jan. 22, 1954 [Jan. 27, 1953], No. 2044/54. Class 6 (3). In a beet-topping machine comprising a knife 3 for cutting off beet tops which is adjusted by means of a disc 2 which runs over the tops of the beet, the disc 2 is mounted on a shaft 11 which is journalled in a yoke 10 which is pivotally journalled in arms 8 that are rigidly attached to members 4 supporting the knife and springs 14 are connected between the yoke 10 and the arms 8 in such a manner that the yoke is held against the arms by adjustable stops 12, 13 but can yield against the springs 14 when an obstruction lodges between the knife and the disc. As shown, the knife is pivotally mounted on the machine frame 7 and is counterbalanced by springs 15.
