Abstract

752,422. Diazotype materials. GENERAL, ANILINE & FILM CORPORATION. Aug. 17, 1954 [Feb. 10, 1954], No. 23942/54. Addition to 749,034. Class 98 (2). A light-sensitive diazotype composition comprises an aqueous dispersion of a diazonium compound, a water-insoluble cationic or non- ionic polyvinyl ester (other than polyvinyl acetate) or copolymer of a vinyl ester with another vinyl compound copolymerizable with such ester (such as acrylic acid) and finely divided silica. The silica is preferably of a particle size from 1 to 5 microns, but colloidal silica may also be used. The polymer may be plyvinyl chloride, or a copolymer of vinyl chloride or vinyl acetate with acrylic acid or styrene may be used. The polymers are empoloyed as aqueous dispersions having a solids content of 40-55 per cent by weight. The azo coupling component may be included in the light-sensitive material or in the developer. Suitable diazonium compounds and azo couplers are those specified in the parent Specification. The compositions may also contain the adjuncts specified in the parent Specification. Examples are given of the dry process only. Specification 705,551 is referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 647,617.
