752,317. Reciprocating electric motors. SOC METALLURGIQUE D'IMPHY, [formerly SOC. ANON. DE COMMENTRYFOURCHAMBAULT & DECAZEVILLE]. Oct. 25, 1954 [Oct. 29, 1953], No. 30715/54. Class 35. Magnetostrictive movement is amplified by joining two thin strips of different magnetostrictive value into a bimetallic strip. The strips, which are preferably of opposite magnetostrictive effect, suitable metals or alloys being given, may be joined by welding, bonding or hot-rolling. One element may be paramagnetic and the other diamagnetic, and the elements may be of similar thermal coefficients of expansion.
