Abstract

The invention comprises the tri-n-butyl amine salt of a ,a -dichloropropionic acid of formula <FORM:0751308/IV(a)/1> The compound is prepared by reacting a ,a -dichloropropionic acid with tri-n-butyl amine, with or without the reactants being in water or an organic solvent such as xylene or a petroleum distillate. The reaction may be performed at a temperature between 20 DEG and 100 DEG C.ALSO:The tri-normal-butylamine salt of a , a -dichloropropionic acid of formula: <FORM:0751308/VI/1> is used as a weed killer dispersed on a finely divided solid as a dust, in oils, as a constituent in oil-in-water emulsions, or in water solutions or dispersions with or without the addition of wetting and dispersing agents.
