A pair of braces comprises a slide device 18, Fig. 1, mounted on two strap portions 10, 11, the upper end of the slide having a pair of openings 19, 20 through each of which one strap portion passes, and the lower end having a single opening 9 through which both strap portions pass. The slide device 18 is preferably made of leather or like flexible material, either in the form of a single piece folded at 21 and stitched at 22, or from two superposed pieces secured together at 21 and 22. The slide may alternatively be constructed of metal.
