749,534. Area meters. HARRISON, J. T., and EUSTACE, S. A. Sept. 6, 1954 [Sept. 28, 1953], No. 26638/53. Class 106 (1). A device for the direct measurement of rectangular areas comprises a triangular sheet of transparent or opaque material marked with a series of hyperbolic curves b extending between the hypotenuse c and perpendicular d of the triangle, the origin e of the curves coinciding with the intersection of the hypotenuse and base of the triangle. The curves denote areas and are marked accordingly, e.g. in marginal portions f of the sheet. A rectangle i to be measured is placed with one corner over the point e of the device and with one side in register with the base of the triangle, whereupon its opposite corner k will register with the curve corresponding to its area.
