748,974. Pit props. FOLLSAIN-WYCLIFFE FOUNDRIES, Ltd. Sept. 13, 1954 [Sept. 30, 1953], No. 26831/53. Class 20(2). A pit prop having a head-piece 3 raised against the mine roof by a wedge 2 is connected to the headpiece by a cap 1 having a rigid guide tongue 10 passing through a slot in the wedge and connected to the head-piece 3 by a slot and bolt 22. The cap 1 has a depending skirt 25 to fit a cylindrical or H-section prop or prongs to drive into a wooden prop. The head-piece may have its top side curved to fit a half-round wooden bar or have ledges to retain a girder.
