Abstract

748,429. Inductors; rectifying. TELEFUNKEN GES., [formerly TELEFUNKEN GES. FUR DRAHTLOSE TELEGRAPHIE]. Oct. 15, 1953 [Oct. 15, 1952; Aug. 17, 1953], No. 28440/63. Class 38 (2). [Also in Group XL (c)] In a circuit of the " resonant return " type for generating a saw-tooth current in an inductance coil, and in which the coil is fed from a driver valve through a transformer from which an E.H.T. voltage is derived by rectifying voltage peaks occurring during the fly-back, the driver valve is coupled to the transformer by connecting the valve to the common point of two inductors connected in series across a portion of the transformer, at least one of the inductors being variable. Fig. 1 shows a conventional circuit comprising deflection coils 4, a damping diode 2, an H.T. boost capacitor 1 and an E.H.T. rectifier 7 modified in that the driver valve 5 is coupled to the scanning transformer 12 through coils 8 and 9. By varying the inductances of these coils together or separately it may be arranged that the sawtooth current amplitude and the E.H.T. voltage may be varied independently of each other or conjointly such that a variation of the E.H.T. voltage is effected without changing the deflection amplitude. The coils may, as in Fig. 5, have a common adjustable core and be such their total inductance remains constant, coil 8 being movable axially to vary the total inductance. Capacitances may be connected across the inductors to assist in obtaining the desired change of E.H.T. voltage (Fig. 7, not shown) and the variable inductors may comprise a fixed and a variable inductor in parallel (Fig. 6, not shown). Specification 482,370, [Group XL], is referred to.
