747,045. Automatic frequency and phase control. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Feb. 17, 1954 [Feb. 20, 1953], No. 4642/54. Class 38 (4). [Also in Group XL (e)] Synchronization of a free-running multivibrator is effected by a control voltage from a push-pull discriminator D applied to the control grid of one of the valves through a resistor 13 and the mean grid current ig through this resistor 13 is arranged to be balanced by an equal positive current flowing to the control voltage input point 16 from a point of fixed positive, potential, e.g. H.T., through a resistor 17 of selected value. The pulsatory voltage from the multivibrator generates at 15 a sawtooth voltage whose phase is controlled, relative to incoming sync pulses 2 derived, e.g. in a television receiver, by mixing the sawtooth waves and pulses in the discriminator D and applying the D.C. output of the latter, as above, to the grid of one valve of the multivibrator.
