Two sets 1, 1a and 2, 2a of thread carriers are traversed over a variable distance by rollers 15, 15a on a reciprocated chain 5, the rollers engaging and disengaging drivers 12, 12a as they traverse vertical paths between sprockets 6 and 7, 8 and 9, 6a and 7a 8a and 9a, carried on boxes 10, 11, 10a, 11a, adjustable by lead screws 16, 17, 17a, 16a, the drivers being releasably connected to bars 3, 4, bearing the thread carriers, through latches 114, 114a, so that the two sets of thread carriers may be traversed simultaneously or one without the other, all substantially as described in Specification 746,941.
