Abstract

746,361. Cutting thermoplastic sheet material. THRELFALL, C. Aug. 30,1954, No. 25066/54. Classes 31 (1) and 31 (2). Apparatus for cutting thermoplastic sheet material and simultaneously sealing the cut edges comprises a cylinder 7 housing one or more electrical heating elements and having a disc cutter 8 mounted coaxially therewith, the cylinder 7 being mounted on a spindle 9 and within the arms of a yoke 6 which is detachably connected to a handle 5 having a bore through which passes a cable 11 which is detachably fixed to the ends of the - spindle 9 by nuts 10. In a modification, Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown), the cylinder and disc cutter are replaced by a frusto-conical wheel the larger diameter of which forms the cutting edge.
