744,638. Recording-apparatus. KENT, Ltd., G. June 28, 1954 [June 29, 1953], No. 18019/53. Class 106 (4). A device for positively moving the pens away from the chart in a recording-instrument is positively actuated by a Bowden cable. As shown, at one end of a Bowden cable, the sheath 1 and inner member 2 are attached to the ends of levers which pivot on a fixed member 6 having two stops 10, 11, a spring 16 linking the other ends of the levers at different distances from the pivots, so that, when the Bowden cable is actuated, the lever 13 moves until it meets the stop 11 whereupon the other lever leaves the stop 10 and through a scythe shaped member 9 moves the pens clear of the chart. If the apparatus has an indicating-pointer, this is moved clear of the chart first during movement of the lever 13 by the action of a hole therein on a bell-crank lever 20. A door limit stop comprises two members 26, 27 hinged together at 28 and to the door 24 and case 22 at 29, 30. Also pivoted to the case at 30 is a lever 31 attached to a sector 32 to which is attached the inner member of the Bowden cable, an outer sector 34 being provided to anchor the sheath. A hook piece 36 is pivoted on the lever 31 and is controlled by a spring 39 to remain either along the lever 31, which may then be manipulated by a finger piece 35 to actuate the cable, or to remain as shown for engagement with a projection from the pivot 28 whereby the cable will be actuated automatically by opening the door.
