An assembly of electrical components comprises a strip of flexible insulating material 1 on which the components arranged in groups 2, 3, 4 and 5 are mounted, the components being held to the strip by loops 6 of a thermosetting plastic material or a fabric coated with such material. The loops are attached to the strip 1 by the application of heat and pass round the components, supporting them, as more clearly seen in the side view of Fig. 2. Further small components, e.g. 7 and 8, may be supported by similar loops 11 and 12 attached to the loops 6. The groups 2, 3, 4, 5 of components are so spaced along the strip, that the strip may be wrapped up, starting from the left-hand end in Fig. 1, to form a rectangular package as shown in Fig. 3. In the arrangement illustrated, a metal screen is arranged around the components of group 2, the strip 1 being folded back on itself at A and the folded-back portion 21 being secured by a piece of tape 22 thereby forming a pocket in which a thin copper screen 20 is placed so that it completely surrounds the components the group 2 when the assembly is wound up. The wound-up assembly, as shown in Fig. 3, is placed in a metal can the leads 16 being soldered to terminals passing through a glass insert in the base cover of the can before the side-wall portion is slipped over the package. The side walls and base cover are soldered together and the can and contents are heated to remove moisture. The can is then partially filled up with a solid filling material, after which the top cover of the can is soldered in place and the container is filled, through an aperture in the top cover, with a thermosetting resin. The aperture in the top cover is then sealed with a cover plate which is soldered in place.
