Abstract

743,902. Sieves. SIEBTECHNIK GES. April 10, 1952 [April 12, 1951; June 6, 1951; Jan. 28, 1952], No. 9212/52. Class 117. A fine mesh sieve 2, Figs. 1, 2, is fastened to the ribs 5 of an auxiliary lattice 1, of polyvynil chloride for example, by heating with a hot air blast to cause the fused plastic material to run through slots 4 in the sieve, forming caps 3 which hold the sieve on the frame after cooling. In a modification the sieve 2<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 3, is embedded in the ribs 5<SP>1</SP> of the frame 1<SP>1</SP> by pressure and heat to leave upwardly projecting portions 6 of the ribs. The heat may be produced in the sieve by passing an electric current therethrough. The ribs of the auxiliary lattice may be provided with stiffening flanges, Fig. 4 (not shown), and may be made of a polystyrol or silicone plastic. In a further embodiment, the auxiliary lattice is of steel or a light alloy, the ribs being coated with polyethylene powder mixed with fine filling compounds, and the sieve being impressed therein with the application of heat from a flame or hot air blast, Fig. 5 (not shown).
