[Also in Group XXXIX] A control unit for several services, such as radio, nurse's buzzer, and bedside light, intended to be placed inside a hospital bed, is provided with low-tension supply only. When switch 24 is closed a low-tension current from transformer 22 energizes relay 14 to supply mains current to a table lamp 13. Alternatively (Fig. 3, not shown) the switch 24 may be biased to off-position, successive operations of the switch turning the lamp on and off. A push-button 25 takes current from the transformer 22 to summon the nurse. A switch 29 controls music supplied to headphones 31 and may choose either of two programmes at high or low volume or may be turned to off.
