Abstract

742,628. Pit props. REPPEL, W. Oct. 27, 1953 [Oct. 29, 1952], No. 29692/53. Class 20(2). A pit prop consists of an inner member formed from several angle bars 1, 1<SP>1</SP>, 2, 2<SP>1</SP> associated with a cap 12, slidable within an outer member formed from several angle bars 3, 31, 4, 41 associated with a base 13, the bars of the inner and outer members being disposed alternately one within another, and being clamped together into frictional engagement by a band lock 5, eccentric 6 and pressure member 7. A drag wedge may be provided in the lock. The bars 1, 11, 2, 21 may be of aluminium and the bars 3, 31, 4, 41 of steel. Channel bars may be used instead of angle bars and also the openings between the flanges may be directed away from each other symmetrically about a vertical axial plane, instead of towards one another as shown.
