In the manufacture of a vacuum can sealing cord with an integral rip-tongue an unvulcanized piece of cord la is placed with ends 2a around a pin 3 to lie parallel and the ends are then transformed into a rip-tongue 2 by means of a die and the formed ring 1 with integral rip-tongue 2 vulcanized.
