Abstract
739,120. Telescopic hydraulic dampers. GIRLING, Ltd. Aug. 19, 1954 [Aug. 24, 1953], No. 23239/53. Class 108 (3). A telescopic hydraulic damper has its effective outer surface-area increased by winding on to it, in the form of a helix, a metal strip of angle-section with its ends d welded or otherwise secured to the damper. One flange c.of the angle forms a cooling fin, and the other flange b is in intimate contact with the surface of the damper. There may be a space between adjacent flanges b. Further welds may be made intermediate the ends d.
