738,347. Extruding synthetic plastics. VEREINIGTE DEUTSCHE METALLWERKE AKT.-GES. June 29, 1953 [July 2, 1952; Nov. 18, 1952; March 9, 1953; June 10, 1953], No. 17998/53. Class 87 (2). A single-screw press has a constriction 6 in the passage of the extrusion nozzle 4, this constriction being positioned beyond the free end 3 of the screw. The constriction deprives the plastic of its rotary movement. The constriction may be formed in an interchangeable insert 6a, which may carry guide vanes 9. An interchangeable spider 7 supports a tubing mandrel 5. The end 3 of the screw may be parabolical, as shown, or hemispherical.
