Abstract
737,666. Testing physical qualities of materials. IVANOVSZKY, L. July 16, 1953 [July 22, 1952]; No. 18557/52. Class 106 (2). An apparatus for testing the physical properties of semi-solid and solid substances including waxes, comprises a container divided into parts 7a, 7b which are adapted to be moved relatively to each other, while maintaining a constant angular relation between the longitudinal axes of the parts, against the resistance of the substance in the container, and means for applying a force to effect the relative movement. As shown in Fig. 1, the container is divided into an upper part 7a and a lower part 7b, the lower part being adapted to be pulled through a spring balance 16 by a winding device 18, movement of the upper part being prevented by a cross-bar 5. The abutting surfaces x, y of the two parts 7a, 7b are inclined forwardly and upwardly in the direction of movement of the part 7b. Horizontal or other alternative forms for the abutting surfaces x, y may be used. A thermometer 9 may be included. Pins 8 for aligning the two parts 7a, 7b are withdrawn before the test commences. In an alternative arrangement, the upper part is rotatable relatively to the lower part, the two parts having internal fins.
