Abstract
736,694. Core constructions. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. Aug. 7, 1953 [Aug. 13, 1952], No. 20366/52. Class 35. The stator core 10 of a dynamo-electric machine is mounted resiliently in its frame 11 by a plurality of links 20 ... 23 fixed rigidly to two sets of torsion rods or tubes 12 ... 14 and 16 ...18 which respectively are fixed rigidly also to rings 10a ... 10c and and 11a ... 11c respectively secured to the core 10 and frame 11. Each rod or tube may be continuous through the rings or it may comprise one of a number of short lengths disposed between each ring. The mounting permits rotating distorsion by the rotor of the stator to an elliptical shape, the rods twisting and bending to allow respectively radial and tangential movement, and the links may, permit axial stator movement. The clearance between the radially aligned rings 10a, 11a, &c., is such as to limit the permitted distortion; in the Provisional Specification the distortion is limited by buffers and also resilient bushes may be introduced into the rigid connections of the rods or tubes. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 540,199.
