736,550. Protective arrangements. WHITE, G. W. March 3, 1954 [April 21, 1953], No. 10912/53. Class 38 (5). A warning apparatus comprises a warning indicator 2 and switch 6 in a batteryenergized circuit, a D.C. relay 7, a rectifier 8 in a low-tension power circuit the relay being supplied from the rectifier and holding the switch 6 open when it is energized, a low-tension power supply A and a manually operable testing switch 4 in the low-tension power circuit, the arrangement being such that if the power supply is cut the relay ceases to be energized and the indicator circuit is closed to operate the indicator 2. The low-tension power supply may be the secondary of a transformer having its primary in a mains lighting or heating circuit, so that the low tension is cut on failure of the mains or of the lighting or heating devices. Alternatively the low-tension circuit may include a thermostatic switch to give warning of temperature variations or door or window switches for burglar alarm purposes. The low-tension circuit may also include a lamp 5 and a voltage-dropping resistor 9. A manually-operated switch 3 may be included in the battery circuit, and the warning indicator may be a bell.
