Abstract

735,651. Batteries. SHRUBSALL, G. W. G. Feb. 11, 1954 [Nov. 12, 1952], No. 28536/52. Class 53. An accumulator is provided with a terminal comprising a threaded rod 8 which passes through an opening in the wall 6 and is secured in a metal bar 5 connected to or formed integrally with the electrode pillar 4. To prevent acid from reaching the external parts of the terminal a recess 10 surrounding the rod 8 is filled with an absorbent material impregnated with grease. The recess is closed by a metal washer 12. The bituminous material 3 which covers the battery is extended to cover the pillar 4 and bar 5 as shown at 7.
