A can containing, e.g. petrol or petrol/oil mixtures, comprises a body 10, a first tube 12 secured parallel to and spaced from the top of the body .10 by second and third tubes 13, 14, the second tube 13 and the adjacent end of the tube 12 comprising a liquid outlet, a valve seating 16 co-operating with a valve plate 18 carried by one end of a spindle 19 mounted for axial sliding in the first tube 12, a disc 21 sealing the other end of the tube, the spindle for part of its length having an axial bore 24 each end of which opens into a radial bore 25, 26 and a spring 27 for biasing the spindle into a position where the valve plate 18 is held on its seating 16 and in which the bore 25 is closed by the sealing disc 21, whereby axial movement of the spindle 19 against the spring 27 opens the valve 16, 18 and brings the radial bore 25 into such a position that bores 24, 25, 26 and tubes 14 and 12 form a venting passage for the container 10. As shown the tubes 12, 13, 14 form a handle for the can. A filter 15 may be provided.
