Abstract

734,573. Track relay circuits. SIEMENS & GENERAL ELECTRIC RAILWAY SIGNAL CO., Ltd., and CANDLER, J. E. March 28, 1952 [March 28, 1951], No. 7213/51. Drawings to Specification. Class 105. In a track relay circuit the relay is fed from the secondary windings of a saturable core transformer, the primary of which is connected between the track rails and the normal no-load magnetizing current of the transformer is in the saturation range and of the same order of magnitude as the current leak through the ballast between the rails which will occur during normal weather conditions, whereby the secondary voltage of the transformer applied to the track relay winding, is rendered reasonably independent of variation of the ballast resistance. The track relay may be an A.C. relay or a rectifier fed D.C. relay.
