Abstract
733,490. Spring surfaces. HOLLO, G. July 16, 1952 [July 24, 1951], No. 18017/52. Class 52 (4). A plurality of wire spirals, alternately of opposite hand, are simultaneously bent to form rows of mattress or cushion springs A<SP>1</SP>, B<SP>1</SP>, C<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 5, the wire being stressed so that the axes of adjoining coils are biased in opposite directions out of parallelism to produce a firmer connection between the springs and to reduce noise. The spirals may be intertwined along the whole or a part of their lengths, or connected by rings or spirals, and may be of single or doubled wire and of different diameters and pitch, Fig. 12. Fabric may be interposed between the springs to enhance noise reduction. An obtuse angle a in the parts 30, Fig. 15, connecting the springs may be imparted during bending to produce the bias, or with intertwined coils, some turns may be above and others below the corresponding turns of the coils with which they are intertwined.
