Abstract

In a thermo-compression evaporator, having both electric and steam heaters, the heaters are vertical tubular elements disposed at the periphery of the condenser so that steam bubbles developing at the top of the heaters do not strike the walls of the condensers. The heaters are controlled automatically in accordance with the degree of vacuum in the evaporator (see Group XXXV], but a change-over switch enables manual control to be exercised as an alternative. The compressor motor and the heaters are shut down by a main circuit breaker and an alarm sounds under fault conditions.
