In a thread control device for a sewing-machine comprising a rotary plate provided with means adapted to take up the thread in a plane substantially at right angles to the axis of rotation of the plate, and stationary guide means located at one edge of the plate, the guide means comprises a plurality of members, some at least of which are adjustably mounted with respect to one another and to a reference line passing through the axis of rotation of the plate and the stationary guide means. Spaced discs 14, 15 are bridged by pins 19, 20 and are carried by a rotary shaft 13. A pin 18 projects from disc 15 into an annular groove provided in a guard plate 17 which is spaced from a stationary plate 16 and is fastened to the latter by a screw 30. An outer guide pin 22 is screwed into plate 16, and inner guide pins 23, 24 located one on each side of a line joining the axes of shaft 13 and pin 22, are adjustably fixed in slots 25 provided in plate 16 laterally with respect to said line. Thread passes from a tensioning device 37 over a guide 38 to the pins, and from the latter over a self-threading guide 31 to the needle, adjustment of the pins 23, 34 serving to vary the timing of the cycle and the amount of take-up.
