Abstract

731,195. Sliding clasp fasteners. PLASCO, Ltd. Feb. 2, 1953 [Aug. 30, 1952], No. 2853/53. Class 44. In a separable fastener stringer comprising a tape and scoops spaced longitudinally of one edge portion of the tape, the scoops each have a mounting end portion 12 on the tape and a coupling end portion 13 extending beyond the tape edge, having an enlarged head end 14 forming a male coupling portion, a neck portion 15 joining the head end with the mounting end portion, the neck portion forming a female coupling portion, one side portion of the scoop at the head end having a recess 17 in which a centre ledge 18 is disposed, one side portion also having an elongated shelf forming a male coupling part, a wall portion 21 forming the base of the recess, the centre ledge portion connecting the wall portion to the elongated male coupling part, the elongated male coupling parts of the scoops of one springer being adapted to extend into the recesses of adjacent scoops of an opposed stringer to couple the stringers together. As shown, each mounting end portion 12 is attached to a stringer bead 10, and the base of the recess 17 formed by the wall 21 is disposed at an angle to the longitudinal side edges of the scoop to facilitate coupling and uncoupling of the scoops. The scoops are formed by dies formed from powdered metal by a pressing and sintering technique.
