Abstract

731,095. Dressing grinding-wheels. WHEEL TRUEING TOOL CO. Dec. 31, 1952 [April 4, 1952], No. 33077/52. Class 60. [Also in Group XXII] A tool for form-dressing a grinding-wheel 30, Fig. 5, comprises a sintered matrix of refractory metal having finely-divided abrasive particles 31 embedded in a surface of reverse contour to that of the wheel to be dressed. The matrix is preferably formed from powdered tungsten which may be mixed with tungsten carbide while the abrasive consists of diamond particles having a size of 50 to 500 per carat and a preferred size of 400 per carat. Fig. 6 shows a tool 40 with two abrasive surfaces. This tool may be mounted on a reciprocable carriage 42, Fig. 7, to dress simultaneously two wheels 43, 44 rotated in opposite directions.
