Abstract

<PICT:0729842/III/1> <PICT:0729842/III/2> <PICT:0729842/III/3> A method of electrostatic spraying and deposition of liquid is characterized in that the liquid is transported from a container into an electrostatic field by means of capillary action. A number of capillary tubes 2, Fig. 1, are immersed in a liquid container 1 and their outlets are arranged opposite a surface 4 to be coated. An electric potential is maintained between the surface and the tubes. A single tube of a non-conductive material may be used, in which case a wire supplying the voltage is introduced into it. Alternatively, a bundle of wires or threads with capillary channels between adjacent wires, etc., may be used. In Fig. 5 a capillary system comprises a number of thin foils 11 separated by wires 12, and in Fig. 8 liquid is supplied to a number of capillary tubes 16 by a wick 15.
