Abstract

729,732. Automatic gain control. BRITISH COMMUNICATIONS CORPORATION, Ltd., and HEFTMAN, T. S. June 27, 1951 [March 27, 1950], No. 7644/50. Class 40 (5). Delay is obtained by biasing the controlled valves positively in the absence of signals. A.G.C. is obtained from the signal rectifier 20 via a filter network 23, 22 and is applied to controlled stages 10, 16 over resistances 29, 30 respectively. Delay is produced by connecting the condenser 22 to a point 28 of fixed positive potential, via resistance network 24, 26, 27; the valves 10, 16 then run into grid current and maintain the potential across condenser 22 slightly negative until the rectified signal is of sufficient strength to overcome the positive potential derived over resistance 24.
