729,174. Dividing by fusion. BOLHER & CO., AKT.-GES., GEB. Jan. 5, 1953 [Jan. 5, 1952], No. 260/53. Class 83 (4). Means for cutting longitudinally moving continuously cast ingots 1 to the required length, with a cutting torch travelling with the ingot, comprises a cutting torch 4 pivotally mounted, to swing in a plane perpendicular to the axis of the ingot 1, upon a slide-block or carriage 3, which in its turn is movable, towards and away from the ingot, on a cutting bench 2 which moves synchronously with the ingot, the nozzle of the torch being yieldably urged, by a spring 7, towards the ingot and being equipped with a distance-plate 6, which bears against the ingot, or against a corresponding pattern, and is of such a profile that in all working positions it maintains the cutting torch at the most advantageous distance from the ingot.
