Abstract
729,133. Endless elevators. CALABRESE, E., and CORBELLA, C., [trading as TELEFLEX ITALIANA, SOC. IN ACC. SEMPLICE]. Feb. 7, 1952 [March 7, 1951; July 21, 1951], No. 3240/52. Class 78 (1). An apparatus for lifting logs, beams and like articles to predetermined heights along a conveying track by means of pushers on an endless chain or rope is characterised in that the track comprises a rigid and non-adjustable surface along which the chain or rope travels and means are provided at each side of the track for guiding the articles, at least one of said guiding means being adjustable in length. Figs. 1, 2 show an embodiment in which the conveyer track 22 is supported in a frame 30 pivotally mounted at its sides by members 20 on a wheeled frame 10. The inclination of the frame 30 is adjusted by ropes or chains 18 of a hand winch 26, while its height may be adjusted by moving the members 20 along the members 24 of the frame 10. The track 22 consists of two planks or metal plates 32, 34 spaced' apart to form a channel 35 along which moves the upper run of an endless chain 36 provided with pushers 38. The chain passes round terminal pulleys at the ends of the frame 30, one of these pulleys, preferably the lower one, being driven by a motor supported on the frame 30. The planks or plates 32, 34 may be inclined at an angle to the channel 35. Guides 40 on the outer sides of the planks 32, 34 each consist of telescopic elements 42, the lowest of which is secured to the frame 30. Adjustment of each of these elements 42 is effected by a cable 43 extending from a winch 44 over a fixed roller (not shown) at the top of the frame 30 to the uppermost element. When the guide on the discharge side of the conveyer track has been adjusted to the required height, planks T are lifted along the track by the pushers 38 and discharged laterally of the track by an arm 48 on a bracket 46 on the left-hand guide 40. The height of this bracket may be adjusted by operating the appropriate winch 44. A bar 50 secured to the left-hand guide 40 prevents the planks falling backwards. Each guide 40 may comprise a flexible steel strip 52, Fig. 5, wound round a drum 56 located at the lower end of the frame 30 and rotatable by hand. Rollers 54 on the frame 30 guide the strips.
