728,212. Light-sensitive cells. MEGATRON, Ltd., VESZI, G. A., and MARKUS, P. March 22, 1950 [March 22, 1949], No. 7772/49. Class 37. [Also in Group XL (b)] A selenium barrier-layer photo-cell exhibiting a cosine law variation of output with angle of incident radiation is constructed by omitting the normal protective covering of lacquer from the photo-sensitive surface 11 and enclosing the cell within a hemispherical cover 17 of glass, plastic or like transparent material. The cover is hermetically sealed to the base support 10 by clamping ring 18, sealing gaskets being provided if necessary, and the enclosure is evacuated or filled with dry air or an inert gas.
