Abstract

1290990 Infrared detector HITACHI Ltd 19 July 1971 [22 July 1970] 33827/71 Heading G1A [Also in Division H1] In an infrared detector a ferro-electric sensing element 7, preferably triglycine sulphate, is protected from the effects of external vibrations by mounting it on a glass plate 8 which is mounted on an elastic film 10 bonded to a ring 9, the whole arrangement being enclosed within a vacuum tight capsule (1) Fig.1 (not shown) having an infrared transparent window. The photo-sensing element 7 the glass plate 8 and the film 10 may be bonded directly to one another or they may be resiliently bonded to one another by inserting a suitable number of small pieces of rubber between each pair of surfaces. Examples of suitable ferroelectric materials are disclosed.
