A main soil or waste pipe 1 has an external flat face 4 surrounding an oval aperture, and a cast unit 6, provided with a flat base 7 of the same size as the face 4, is secured, e.g. by bolts 5, to that face. The unit has one or more screw-threaded unions 9 for the attachment of one or more branch pipes, and a washer A may be interposed between the base 7 and the face 4. Two oppositely or angularly disposed units may be fitted to the pipe.
