Abstract

727,158. Packages. BROOK, R. J. C., and PYE & CO., Ltd., R. May 13, 1953 [May 14, 1952], No. 12245/52. Class 94 (1). A package for a number of reels or rolls of materials 13 comprises a core 11 on which they are mounted, rigid spacer plates 14, preferably of square cross-section and projecting beyond the outer peripheries of the reels and a casing formed of sheet material such as a carton for housing the core and spacer assembly, the walls of which are spaced away from the peripheries of the rolls by means of the spacer plates 11. As shown, the carton has fold-over ends 17, and the plates 11 are fitted on the core alternately with the reels. In a further embodiment each plate has four holes, and four cores are thereby mounted in spaced relationship in the one assembly. The core may be hollow so that a retaining string may be passed therethrough and tied over the reels.
