Abstract

725,902. Substation equipment. PROMUNDO. Aug. 6, 1953, No. 21739/53. Class 40 (4). A phonographic device for answering an incoming call is provided with means whereby a calling subscriber may cause repetition of part of the recorded reply message by uttering a sound of more than a predetermined length. As shown, relays 9 and 25 respond to speech impulses incoming over exchange line 1, 2 or from pick-up 6 and bring up a slow-releasing relay 45 which completes a circuit for a clutch magnet 54 so that the reply record 7 is set in forward motion. The relays 9 and 25 are stated to be energized and released by each word uttered by the calling subscriber or the reply record 7. If the calling subscriber fails to understand part of the reply message, he utters a sound of more than a predetermined length to cause the operation of a relay 51. This briefly switches the energizing circuit from clutch magnet 54 to a reverse clutch magnet 53 so that the reply record 7 runs backwards and then forwards again. If, however, a signal of the predetermined length is transmitted by the pick-up 6, a relay 20 is energized to prevent operation of relay 51 and consequent undesired repetition.
