Abstract
725,526. Automatic temperature control systems. HAZELTINE CORPORATION. Sept. 8, 1953 [Oct. 1, 1952], No. 24803/53. Class 38 (4). A pair of magnetostrictive electric signal delay tubes 11a, 11b of nickel mounted between members 12a, 12b of sound absorbing material and having input windings 16a, 16b and output windings 26a, 26b respectively, are associated with an additional monitor section 35 made of the same material as the delay tubes so that it has the same thermal characteristics. To maintain the temperature of the delay tubes constant, an adjustable bimetallic switch 41 responsive to the temperature of the monitor section controls, through a relay 40, the energization of a heater winding 38 which runs through the delay tubes and the monitor section between end plugs 51a, 51b, 52a of heatinsulating material. A portion 49 of heater 38 is folded back along the outside of the monitor section to compensate for any slight difference in the thermal characteristics. In a modification the monitor section is separate from the delay tubes but shares a common end plug.
